Franz Ferdinand Return With Always Ascending, Share Title Track
Images via David Edwards, Domino RecordsScottish dance-rockers Franz Ferdinand announced Wednesday that their new album, Always Ascending, will arrive in February, and they’ve released the title track to tide us over.
“Always Ascending” is vintage Franz Ferdinand, with a big disco beat underpinning angular guitars and Alex Kapranos’s dramatic baritone. The group’s first album since 2014’s Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action, Always Ascending also marks their first without guitarist Nick McCarthy, who left the band last year. The 10 tracks were recorded at RAK Studios in London and Motorbass in Paris, with the help of French producer Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix, Beastie Boys). Kapranos described the album as “simultaneously futuristic and naturalistic.”
Always Ascending is set for release on Feb. 9, 2018.
