Netflix Reveals the Key Art for Hasan Minhaj’s Weekly Show

That means the slow drip of promotional biz is in full swing, including today’s release of the first bit of key art from the show. Expect to see this photo of a quizzical Minhaj wherever Netflix ads are placed, and probably when you log in to watch that new season of American Vandal or polish off GLOW. (Seriously, who has time to binge the hot new show every single weekend?)
Minhaj’s show comes hot on the heels of his heavily acclaimed Netflix stand-up special, 2017’s Homecoming King. The former Daily Show correspondent has a 32-episode order (which is way more than fellow former Daily Show correspondent Michelle Wolf got for her own short-lived weekly Netflix show). That’s a bold vote of confidence for Patriot Act, which promises to “explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity,” according to Netflix’s press release. Sincerity is kind of Minhaj’s thing, which could make his show stand out from all the other post-Daily Show current event comedy shows out there.
We’ll find out on Sunday Oct. 28, when Patriot Act launches. It’ll be interesting to see if Netflix’s latest attempt at a weekly comedy show succeeds where others (including Joel McHale) have failed, and also to see how many other comedy talk shows the streamer announces between now and Minhaj’s premiere.
