Throughout its history, Daytrotter has played host to plenty of up-and-comers and established acts alike. But, occasionally, an icon stops by.
That was the case back in October of 2009, when beloved songwriter of scorching ballads Carly Simon, joined by her son Ben Taylor on guitar and backing vocals, played a session at the Daytrotter Studio in Davenport, Iowa. The day of her session, Oct. 27, was also the day of her 25th studio album’s release. That silver jubilee record, Never Been Gone, is a collection of new acoustic versions of several songs and classics from Simon’s expansive discography, plus two new songs. But one of those classics sits high above all the rest: “You’re So Vain” is Simon’s biggest hit, and it’s safe to say it’s tied to her for life.
