Norah Jones is one of those steadfast figures in the music industry who continually churns out style-adhering songs, year after year. In 2016, her sixth studio album, Day Breaks, dawned, but she couldn’t stay silent for too long. Now she’s back with a pair of singles, presumably forecasting a seventh album. The singles are her first new music since 2016, the second of which arrived Friday. Listen to her new track, “It Was You,” below.
Jones is back behind the piano for the soulful, slow jazz number “It Was You.” On the other single, “My Heart Is Full,” which was released in June, Jones implements a more experimental edge, layering echoed vocals and building the song’s tension until it peters out in the final minute. Then, Jones declares, “I am tired / I am strong / I am human / I will listen.” You can listen for yourself below.
She’ll finish up a European tour at the end of the month, then Jones will play a slew of Stateside shows in September. Keep scrolling to find her tour dates.
