Don’t Miss James Blake’s Quietly Thrilling New Song “Don’t Miss It”

In January, James Blake shared his first new music of the year, a dreamy track and accompanying video called “If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead,” which was his first new song in two years. Since then, he’s had a jam-packed few months—he toured with Kendrick Lamar for the European DAMN. dates, and he’s reportedly working on more new material for an album.

Now Blake is back again with a new single, “Don’t Miss It,” which arrives accompanied by an iPhone screen-inspired lyric video. The British electronic experimenter is also set to play the first day, June 1, of the Governors Ball Music Festival next week in New York City.

Blake for the most part avoids abrasiveness on “Don’t Miss It,” but it’s, at times, choppy. Quietly compelling, the song is ruled by soft piano, only to be interrupted by the studded autotune on Blake’s vocals. You can check it out below.
