James Wolk Joins Cast of Damon Lindelof’s HBO Watchmen Series

James Wolk has joined the cast of Damon Lindelof’s HBO Watchmen series in a major recurring role, per Deadline.

As with much of the cast, Wolk’s role has not yet been confirmed, although Deadline reports that he may play a junior senator from Oklahoma. This character is perhaps John David Keene, the U.S. Senator who in the Watchmen universe passed the Keene Act, the 1977 law that outlawed vigilantism nationwide.

Creator Lindelof said in an open letter to fans that his adaptation will take an “original” and “contemporary” take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ groundbreaking graphic novel, but is not a sequel, so it’s hard to tell whether Wolk fits that character’s profile in the timeline of the forthcoming adaptation.

The cast of the highly anticipated Watchmen adaptation currently includes Regina King, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers and Dylan Schombing.

Wolk currently stars in CBS All Access’ Tell Me A Story, which premiered on Oct. 31. He also starred on CBS’ Zoo, but is perhaps best known to Mad Men fans for playing Bob Benson, he of “not great, Bob” fame.

Lindelof executive produces Watchmen with Nicole Kassell, who directed the pilot, along with Tom Spezialy, director Stephen Williams and Joseph Iberti. The series is produced for HBO by Lindelof’s White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Watchmen is currently slated for a 2019 premiere on HBO.
