Julia Holter Dons Cowboy Get-up in “Everytime Boots” Video
Last year, Julia Holter released the unique and challenging record Have You In My Wilderness. The video for “Everytime Boots” offers a good visual representation of what the album presents aurally: it’s abstract, odd and yet rewarding.
The video, directed by Nite Jewel, starts out like an ordinary love story of cowboy meets cowgirl at the 99 cent store, but then the strangeness creeps in like the green sliver of light beneath the door in Beetlejuice. There is a mysterious box Holter opens, Holter’s friend who styles her hair like the aforementioned movie’s Lydia Deetz and the odd dusty sandwich that appears to poison the cowboy.
