Leading up to her forthcoming studio album Rainbow, Kesha has continued to release hopeful singles that show strength and maturity in her sound. The new addition, “Hymn,” is no different. Over glittering production, Kesha sings lyrics she wrote with her producers, Cara Salimando and her mother, promoting self-love for those who feel like outcasts.
In an essay about the song she penned for Mic, Kesha writes that this song is inspired by fans that have told her her music has helped them through hard times. She elaborates that the song is for her fans who are misunderstood or disrespected for being who they are—a feeling to which she says she can relate.
