Kevin Morby is spreading his City Music across the U.S. this spring. The singer-songwriter kicks off a new tour in April in support of his acclaimed new album, released in June on Dead Oceans.
Morby’s tour begins with a two-night stand in Portland on April 2-3 and ends with a May 5 show in his hometown of Kansas City, with double dips in Los Angeles, Austin and New York City along the way. Opening all dates on the tour will be Hand Habits, aka Morby’s lead guitarist Meg Duffy’s band. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. local time.
“City Music doesn’t hustle and bustle,” wrote Ben Salmon in his review of Morby’s sophomore solo record for Paste. “But it won’t let you miss it, either.” The album made our list of 2017’s best, while its title track landed the top spot on our list of the year’s best songs, published just this morning. Salmon likened the song to “Television plucked out of a New York City punk dive and plunked down in front of some sweeping L.A. vista at sunset.”
