Yesterday, Kevin Smith took to Instagram and delivered a lengthy post that promised a Jay And Silent Bob reboot, offering some life advice in the process. Smith’s post answered the question cinephiles everywhere have been asking, namely, “How does Kevin Smith get the money to make the movies he makes?” The answer, Smith revealed, is with much effort and rejection. For every green-lit Jay And Silent Bob sequel, a Clerks III or Mallrats project is aborted, it seems.
Smith, with refreshing humility, admitted, “There’s so much competition out there, so many cooler ideas from fresh folks.” Smith promised that the reboot will be “a tongue-in-cheek, silly-ass satire that pokes fun at the movie business’s recent re-do obsession, featuring an all-star cast of cameos and familiar faces!” Smith closed with the advice, “Never give up, kids. You CAN do anything you want in life, so long as you’re patient and malleable.” Stay tuned to Paste for more info about Smith’s forthcoming pièce de résistance, and read his full Instagram post below.
