Larry Wilmore Takes What’s His, Claims The Late Show from Stephen Colbert

Larry Wilmore is following in his predecessor’s footsteps. Wilmore, who was recently ousted from The Nightly Show at Comedy Central, decided he would try hosting The Late Show instead. The logic was fairly clear: Colbert had the 11:30 p.m. slot on Comedy Central before Wilmore, so now that Wilmore was done at 11:30 p.m. on Comedy Central, it was his turn to host The Late Show.

Unfortunately, Colbert arrives just as Wilmore is getting into his opening monologue, ruining the fun. From there, things get salty as Colbert is forced to tell Wilmore that he is still the host of The Late Show. Wilmore’s gig on The Nightly Show ended quite abruptly a few weeks ago, and it’s left many with a Wilmore-shaped hole in their hearts.

After his failed coup, Wilmore sat down with Colbert to discuss life after The Nightly Show, and his depression about all the news he is now unable to satirize. Maybe that’s why he tried to steal Colbert’s show. It’s all starting to make sense now. Check out the clip of Wilmore stealing Colbert’s show above, and the interview below.
