5. “Can’t say one word? EVEN THE GUY THAT CAN’T THINK SAYS SOMETHING! YOU GUYS JUST STAND THERE?! COME ON!”
Vince Vaughn’s Wes Mantooth is rightly frustrated realizing his news team is somehow even more witless than Ron Burgundy’s.

4. “LOUD NOISES!!!”
Brick, my sweet Brick. You are the beautiful, innocent quintessence of everything this movie is. The men in this movie get to participate however they please, whether they have any idea what they’re talking about or not.

3. “SHE HAS BEAUTIFUL EYES, AND HER HAIR SMELLS LIKE CINNAMON!”
Ron nails the tone, but nobody hears the words. It’s as though he’s their teleprompter.

Ron is their leader.

2. “WE ARE THROUGH! THROUGH! BECAUSE OF YOUR ACTIONS, YOU SCORPION WOMAN!”
Probably the most volume-appropriate moment for Ron, following an angry breakup throwdown between him and Veronica. (Pointing the mace can directly at his own eyes may have also contributed.)

1. “I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT!”
Probably the purest distillation of this deafening comedy principle in the entire movie.

BONUS ROUND 1: “I’M EXPRESSING MY INNER ANGUISH THROUGH THE MAJESTY OF SONG!”*
Danny Trejo’s wise Bartender doesn’t appreciate that Ron Burgundy’s drunken raspberry blowing is only tonic for the unkempt newsman at his lowest. Ron doesn’t speak Spanish, though, so the “music” continues to noisily saturate the bar. (*To be honest, the only reason this is not on the list was I was unable to find a video clip.)

BONUS ROUND 2: ”CANNONBALL!”
Suitable for any urgent and horrifying news story.
