Migos’ New Song “Stir Fry” Melds More Melody With Trap

Migos just announced Culture II, which promises to be monumental as their Grammy-nominated breakout Culture was last year. Theirs is “a sonic identity 20 years in the making,” as Rodney Carmichael wrote for NPR. You may need a reminder as to the implications of that statement.

For now, “Stir Fry” is Pharrell-produced and organ-break sampled. It includes Mohawks’ “The Champ,” previously sampled in Eric B & Rakim’s “Eric B Is President,” as well as Onyx’s “Slam,” Ini Kamoze’s “Here Comes The Hotstepper,” KRS-One’s “Step Into A World (Rapture’s Delight)” and Frank Ocean’s “Nikes.” It continues to help the world turn up, but with more melody as Offset, Quavo and Takeoff riff off of one another.

Add to the unstoppable empire: You can buy the new Migos single “Stir Fry” here, or listen to it in the player below. We’ve also included their recent single “MotorSport,” which features Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and (while we’re doing some numbers) has over 35 million plays on YouTube to date, over 110 million streams across all platforms and is spending its sixth week on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
