Netflix Is Investing in Guillermo del Toro’s Specific Brand of Horror via a New Anthology Series

Netflix is investing once more in the mind of Guillermo del Toro. The streaming service is the home to his children’s cartoon Trollhunters, and now it will also be home to his horror anthology series, Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight. The series aims to be a personally del Toro-curated collection of horror tales that range from macabre to grotesque.

Del Toro is producing the series and the stories while also helming some episodes as the writer and director. As for the other episodes, the Oscar winner will pick exciting writers and filmmakers that relish and love the “genre picture” in both concept and, probably nasty, execution. There is no set release date for the series, but it is said to be coming soon.

Del Toro is reteaming with his producer from The Shape of Water, J. Miles Dale, for this new series. It will become Netflix’s first original anthology horror series. The importance of having a Netflix subscription just increased tenfold, because if anyone understands horror and what makes the human spirit tremble in fear, it is Mr. del Toro. His seemingly unilateral vision of an anthology of horror tales will yield brilliantly terrifying results, hopefully.
