Netflix Nabs Mike Birbiglia’s New One, Mike Birbiglia: The New One

Comedian Mike Birbiglia is shifting from Broadway stages to streaming as his latest show, Mike Birbiglia: The New One, will become a Netflix comedy special. The writer and director of Don’t Think Twice secretly filmed the special at the Cort Theatre in Manhattan last year. The show has been kept under wraps content-wise, as well, but The New One is said to stay true to Birbiglia’s observational and confessional comedy style as he struggles to decide whether to bring a child into the world (spoiler alert: he did). The special is directed by Seth Barrish.
The special will launch on Netflix on Nov. 26, just in time to gather the family in town for Thanksgiving to watch. Watch Birbiglia’s announcement below, and check out Paste’s 2017 interview with the comic about his secretive new special, which he has called his best yet.
