New The Office Series Welcomes New Cast Members

The new iteration of The Office has just onboarded new employees. 

The upcoming Peacock mockumentary series, set in the same universe as NBC’s The Office, has added four new cast members. The series, rumored to be titled The Paper, is co-created by Greg Daniels, who developed the 2005 series for American audiences, and writer Michael Koman (How To With John Wilson). 

New series regulars include BAFTA Award-winner Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League Of Their Own, Black Ops), Emmy Award-winning comedian Alex Edelman (Just For Us), and Tim Key (Brassic). Eric Rahill (The Bear) will feature in a co-starring role. Per an NBC press release, Ikumelo, Edelman, and Rahill will also serve as writers on the series. 

The new recruits join previously announced cast members Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), and Chelsea Frei (Poker Face). 

While details about the characters remain undisclosed, NBC has confirmed that the series will follow quirky employees of a dying newspaper in the Midwestern United States. The only shot at reviving the paper lies in the hands of newly recruited volunteer reporters. 

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, co-creators of the original The Office in the UK, will executive produce alongside Daniels and Koman. Additional EPs include Howard Klein and Ben Silverman, both producers of the 2005 US comedy.

Peacock has yet to set a premiere date for the series; NBC previously announced that production began in July.
