Pixar Gives Fans a Sneak Peek at New Short Film Bao
Images via Disney-PixarDisney-Pixar set off a collective “Ah” around the world when they tweeted out a teaser trailer for their forthcoming short film Bao on Thursday.
Viewers get a taste of Disney-Pixar’s latest feel-good short as a Chinese-Canadian woman appears sad over her sudden empty nest when one of her homemade dumplings comes to life, which gives her a second shot at motherhood. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the film’s director Domee Shi said she wanted to the story to be relatable: “It felt like a really universally appealing story that a lot of people could identify with.”
The latest short film from the animation giant will open before The Incredibles 2 starting June 15. The short follows in the footsteps of famous Pixar shorts like Day and Night, Sanjay’s Super Team and 2016’s award-winning Piper as an opener before a marquee Pixar feature film.
