See What Happens When Medical Care and Crime Collide in First Hotel Artemis Trailer

Months after the anticipated thriller was picked up by Global Road Entertainment, the first trailer for Hotel Artemis has arrived. The star-studded film, set in a riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, centers on a secret, members-only hospital for criminals.

In the trailer, viewers see Waikiki (Sterling K. Brown) and his crew of bank robbers during a heist when his brother Honolulu (Brian Tyree Henry) is shot. Waikiki knows just where to take him, with the film’s namesake and its proprietor, The Nurse (Jodie Foster), appearing on cue. Throughout the trailer, there are previews of Sofia Boutella, Dave Bautista and Charlie Day’s characters, adding a mix of action and comedy to this singular thriller. The interesting factor goes up when everyone’s favorite eccentric, Jeff Goldblum, enters the trailer as crime boss The Wolf King, coming to the criminal hospital in search of the MacGuffin that Waikiki stole. The interaction between acting titans Goldblum and Foster, alone, makes this trailer a must-see.

With the Hotel Artemis trailer out, film audiences also get a release date after months of speculation: June 8. With an all-star cast that also includes Jenny Slate and Zachary Quinto, and Drew Pearce both writing and directing, this thriller looks to be another film (a la A Quiet Place or Blockers) set to break up the hold blockbuster franchises have on the film industry right now.
