Apple Promptly Renews Severance For A Third Season

This morning, Apple announced that Severance is coming back for a third season. While the news wasn’t a surprise, given that the series became Apple TV+’s most-watched show during its second season, the prompt confirmation was a welcoming sign for fans of the show. Director and producer Ben Stiller recently said on the Kelce Brothers’ podcast that the wait for Severance Season 3 won’t be nearly as long as the three-year gap between Season 1 and 2.

Severance Season 2 wrapped up earlier today with its tenth episode, “Cold Harbor.” The series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a Lumon employee who undergoes an experimental procedure called “severance” that splits his consciousness into two halves: one that exists outside of work and has no recollection of what he does in the office and one that only exists within the walls of Lumon HQ. The series follows the “innies,” the self that only exists inside the workplace, and their “outie” counterparts as they attempt to unravel what Lumon is truly after.

In a press release, the cast and crew had the following to say about Severance Season 3:

“Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” said executive producer and director Ben Stiller. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making season three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team,” said star and executive producer Adam Scott. “Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

“The idea of getting to make more ‘Severance’ with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined,” said creator, writer and executive producer Dan Erickson. “I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.”

“What Ben, Dan, Adam and the talented cast and crew behind ‘Severance’ have brought to the screen is undeniable magic,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We’re so proud to be the home for this brilliant series and look forward to audiences experiencing what’s in store for season three.”
