Sorry Preview Their Debut Album with “Right Round the Clock”

North Londoners Sorry are one of Paste’s 15 new British acts you need to know in 2019, and if you’re not already, it’s the perfect time to get acquainted. Today (Oct. 21), the band have announced their debut record after two years of releasing stellar single after stellar single, along with two visual mixtapes that are both glossy and grungy, abrasive and anesthetizing. 925 will arrive in spring of 2020, and they’ve dropped the first single and video, “Right Round the Clock.”

The new track bears the band’s trademark deadpan vocals from singers and guitarists Asha Lorenz and Louis O’Bryen, and off-kilter, stuffed-to-the-brim instrumentation that reaches its peak in a pleasantly queasy cacophony of piano, brass, electronics and guitar. The dreamlike video was directed by Lorenz and Sorry’s frequent visual collaborator Jasper Cable-Alexander. In it, Lorenz and O’Bryen sit amidst unsavory or just plain inscrutable bar patrons, including an Elvis impersonator singing along to “Right Round the Clock” on a barebones karaoke setup. The track features a wry rewrite of Gary Jules’ “Mad World” as the two vocalists declare their grand ambitions in harmony: “I’m feeling kind of crazy, I’m feeling kind of mad / The dreams in which we’re famous are the best I’ve ever had.” Sorry sound like no one else, and they’re just beginning.
