Sunflower Bean Gets Spooky in “Easier Said” Video

Sunflower Bean’s music is textured with atmospheric soundscapes so it makes sense that they would bring that dreamy aesthetic to their video for single “Easier Said.”

Directed by Charlotte Hornsby and Jesse Ruuttila, the video feels like a cross between The Seventh Seal and The Wicker Man set against a beautiful Terrence Malick approved backdrop.

“A lot of our other videos have been shot on iPhones, which was cool, but we wanted to try the polar opposite of that which is why we asked the director, Charlotte Hornsby, to work on film,” singer-bassist Julia Cumming told i-D. “We also wanted the visuals to work with the feeling of the song more so than the literal meaning. The movement, the elements, and the colours in the video capture that vibe.”

The video’s dark subtle nature underpins the longing in the song’s lyrics as Cumming sings, “You’re getting old / So act your age / It isn’t fun / To make the same mistakes.”
