The Shins Share Inventive “Half A Million” Video
Images via Columbia Records/YouTubeBeloved indie ensemble The Shins released their first record in five years this past spring, Heartworms, and since then have been on an extensive tour in support of the album. Today, the band shared an impressive new video for one of album’s tracks, “Half A Million”—watch above.
The video, directed by Lamar + Nik, was initially filmed on a white backdrop, edited and printed out to create 5,566 stickers from over 4,000 frames. Those were individually hand-cut and stacked on top of each other, and stop-motion animated while being shot at over 40 locations. The whole thing is quite impressive and the end result is appropriately cool, with the sticker Shins interacting with their various environments in clever and entertaining ways.
