Listen to The Voidz’s First New Single in Nearly Four Years, “Leave It in My Dreams”
Images via Jeramy Gritter, Cult Records/RCAOn Tuesday morning, The Voidz released their first single in nearly four years, titled “Leave It in My Dreams,” from the follow-up to their acclaimed debut Tyranny.
The song’s release follows a trailer the band released in December, announcing both a new album and a name change—they were formerly known as Julian Casablancas +The Voidz. The Casablancas side project continues to experiment with its sound by moving away from the hard-hitting prog rock-meets-electronica of Tyranny towards a more melodic neo-psychedelia-indie pop with “Leave It in My Dreams.” Shawn Everett’s upbeat production masks bittersweet lyrics about life as Casablancas sings, “It’s my life / And I can’t believe it / Is that the life I live? / All these surreal things and life decisions / I just want to waste my time with you.”
Beyond the single release, the band’s sophomore album titled Virtue has a release date of March 30, according to a listing on Amazon. The Voidz will perform on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Jan. 30 at 11:35 p.m. EST on NBC.
With all these changes, fans of The Voidz seem to be in for a real treat in 2018. Take a listen to their new song below.
