Yes, Trump Admitted Russia Helped Him. No, It Doesn’t Matter.

Trump’s babbling mess of a Twitter is both a front row seat to the spectacle of the self-imploding president and an utter embarrassment to the country as a whole, and those two usually go hand-in-hand.

Proving our point, the president’s latest tweeting rant has him…well surprisingly, it has him admitting Russia helped him win the 2016 election.

However, the oh so perfectly poised president quickly refuted the tweet stating,“You know who got me elected? I got me elected,” during a press conference after the matter. “Russia didn’t help me at all. Russia, if anything, I think, helped the other side.”

The tweet admission was one minuscule part of a longer Trump Twitter rant, but marks the first time the president has spoken publicly about the alleged collusion. It’s no secret that the president hasn’t been fond of the findings from intelligence agencies that point to the likelihood of Russian collusion, but even after his Twitter mistake, he holds pride in the fact that it was “him” who won election. The so-called “Russia Hoax” is all an elaborate plan from Democrats who wish to be in the White House—according to Trump, that is.

Trump’s wonderfully contradictory statements come just a day after special counsel Mueller’s somewhat disappointing press conference about his investigation. There, Mueller reiterated the Russian meddling. “There were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election. That allegation deserves the attention of every American,” Mueller said during his closing.

However, Mueller’s press conference didn’t necessarily tell Americans anything new and only really proved, along with the help of the murky Constitution, that the president is practically above the law.

Despite Mueller, maybe Trump just got a little too trigger happy while tweeting; maybe he’s just not too great at proofreading his tweets. But maybe, just maybe, he should be a bit more careful next time he talks about that tiny Russian collusion thing that could bring criminal charges against him. Just a thought.
