Watch Liam Gallagher Break Out the Oasis Classics at First Solo Gig

Liam Gallagher has been preparing the world for his first solo album, As You Were, for several weeks now, touting its superiority in various British publications and taking pot shots at his “potato” of a brother, Noel. It was all entertaining in the usual way until May 22, when terrorists attacked the former Oasis frontman’s hometown of Manchester, killing 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert.

Since then, Gallagher has focused on supporting his city, announcing that Tuesday’s show at the Manchester O2 Ritz—his first ever solo gig—would donate its proceeds to the We Love Manchester emergency fund. With Manchester on his mind, Gallagher opened the evening with a hyperactive version of Oasis’ “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” (the first song on their first album, 1994’s Definitely Maybe) and later played a crowd-aided version of another Oasis favorite, ”(What’s the Story) Morning Glory” (from 1995’s What’s the Story Morning Glory). He also mixed “Slide Away” and “D’You Know What I Mean” among the new material from his solo album, which doesn’t yet have a release date.

Here are some fan-shot videos of ”(What’s the Story) Morning Glory” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.”

And an excellent new song, “Wall of Glass.”
