Netflix has released a new trailer for their limited series Godless, and while it kept the grim overtones from the first teaser, it’s shown us much more humor and character this time around.
The series follows a town in the Old West that lost all its men in a mining accident. The town is brought into a conflict between bandits when Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell) seeks safe harbor from notorious outlaw Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels). The isolated mining town of La Belle, N.M. thus has to play host to a bitter struggle. From the official synopsis: “When word reaches La Belle that Griffin is headed their way, the town bands together to defend against the murderous gang in a lawless western frontier.”
The new trailer features a lot more footage of women shooting bandits and Goode getting fancy with some dueling pistols. If you thought this was just going to be a slow, dark story, the sheer amount of action in this trailer should convince you otherwise.
All episodes of Godless will be released on Nov. 22.
