Watch the Trailer for The BFG, Steven Spielberg’s Take on the Roald Dahl Classic
Not to get too corny on you, but I still remember the magic of Roald Dahl’s novels as a kid, and The BFG—Dahl’s acronym for “big friendly giant”—was one of my favorites. So 11-year-old me would be very, very excited that Steven Spielberg is directing a film version. The story centers on a girl from London named Sophie who meets the BFG at night and explores his land of giants. Ruby Barnhill makes her debut as Sophie, and Mark Rylance takes on the roll of BFG. Spielberg has assembled an all-star supporting cast, including Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords). The film will open in the U.S. on July 1, 2016, and you can watch the first trailer above.
