Nintendo's NX Will Launch in March 2017, Along With the Next Legend Of Zelda

Last month, Nintendo quietly announced its intention to begin phasing the Wii U out of production. Now, we know when its replacement, the NX, will be made available to the public: next March.

In typical Nintendo fashion, not much else was revealed about the next-gen console in the press release the company distributed today. The NX will not even make an appearance at the E3 convention in Los Angeles this June—instead, it will debut “later this year.”

That said, we do know that the next installment in the Legend of Zelda series will be the first launch title available for the system. Nintendo announced that versions of the game for NX and Wii U are in simultaneous development (so you don’t need to get that NX right away), and the Wii U version will be the company’s primary focus at E3—indeed, it will be the only Nintendo game offered for play on the convention floor.

We’ll have more on the NX as Nintendo makes further announcements in the coming months. Meanwhile, if you haven’t yet played the HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that came out last month, have a look here.
