Marie Curie Biopic Radioactive Recruits Anya Taylor-Joy, Sam Riley, More

The Marie Curie biopic from Amazon and Studiocanal just added a slew of young talent. The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy, On the Road’s Sam Riley and Aneurin Barnard of Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-nominated Dunkirk have joined the film’s cast, according to THR. There’s no news on the exact characters the actors will be playing, but filming is currently underway in Budapest. Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike is playing Curie in the forthcoming biopic that will follow her romance with Pierre Curie, their prolific discoveries in physics and chemistry, and her life after Pierre’s untimely death.

Taylor-Joy recently starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Split with James McAvoy and can be seen in last year’s Sundance hit Thoroughbreds, out March 9. Taylor-Joy gained international acclaim with her brilliant performance in Robert Eggers’s The Witch and will join Eggers on his forthcoming Nosferatu adaptation.

British actor Riley first made his impact on film in the 2007 BAFTA winning Control, playing Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. Since then he’s garnered attention in the independent film On the Road playing Jack Kerouac, opposite Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund. He starred alongside Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan in the 2012 vampire thriller Byzantium and played opposite Oscar winner Angelina Jolie in Maleficent.

Barnard is best known for his role in Dunkirk but he gained prominence in the Golden Globe-nominated Starz limited series The White Queen with Rebecca Ferguson and the Emmy-nominated limited series War and Peace with Lily James. He will be seen in the forthcoming The Goldfinch, shooting now, with Ansel Elgort, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Jeffrey Wright.

Not quite as young as Taylor-Joy, Riley and Barnard, Simon Russell Beale of Penny Dreadful has also joined the Radioactive cast. Most recently, he starred in the BAFTA-nominated The Death of Stalin with Steve Buscemi and My Cousin Rachel with Oscar winner Rachel Weisz.

Radioactive is based on Laura Redniss’s graphic novel titled Radioactive: Marie and Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout and is directed by Marjane Satrapi.
