James Gunn Has Submitted the First Draft of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s Script

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is moving along smoothly in a post-Avengers: Infinity War world. Marvel has been very tightlipped about future projects given the events of Infinity War and, as of right now, there are only two confirmed post-Infinity War movies that Marvel has planned: Spider-Man: Far from Home and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3—Monday saw a significant update on the latter.

Spider-Man: Far from Home is set to start shooting later this summer with Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 set to shoot sometime next year, per Collider. James Gunn, writer and director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has been teasing his progress on the third entry’s script since Vol. 2 hit theaters last May. As you see above, he shared an image on Twitter Monday of the first draft of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, more or less confirming that he has wrapped the first draft of the script. Once again, per Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared in an interview, “James Gunn has delivered a draft and we begin official pre-production on that very, very soon.”

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is set to conclude this initial chapter of the Guardians franchise and the current lineup of heroes in the Guardians of the Galaxy will probably change as the initial trilogy bows out sometime in the next year or two. Marvel has an untitled movie slot set for May 1, 2020 and all signs are pointing to Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 opening on that date.
