Jordan Peele Is Working on a Sci-Fi Comedy for YouTube

Jordan Peele is working on a sci-fi comedy series for YouTube called Weird City. The show, ordered straight to series, is co-written by the Get Out director and Charlie Sanders, a former Key and Peele writer. The series is set to debut on YouTube Premium (fka YouTube Red) on an unspecified date in 2019, per THR.

According to YouTube, Weird City is “an anthology set in the not-too-distant future metropolis of Weird.” Each episode in the six-episode series explores issues pertinent to present-day life. Peele described it as “a series of comedy driven twisted-ass science fiction stories that take place in a world close to ours but just a little bit off.”

The show is produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, and will enlist Jose Molina as showrunner and executive producer. Emmy winner Adam Bernstein is set to direct the first two episodes.

Peele has a lot of balls in the air right now, as he’s also working on a Twilight Zone reboot for CBS and a show about Nazi hunters for Amazon, among other projects. He also recently signed a first-look deal with Amazon and will begin work on his next movie, Us, in the near future.
