A24 is up to something.
Early Thursday morning, the independent film powerhouse posted an unforthcoming video to their Twitter teasing a new project dubbed #A24PublicAccess. The video features a series of white still images captioned with A24 titles, specific dates, times and location coordinates.
The company’s website also features a separate tab for #A24PublicAccess, where you can scroll through an endless loop of the images included in the video.
Oh, the joys of cryptic teasers and the ensuing Twitter hysteria.
Twitter immediately speculated that the trailer had something to do with a streaming service (“public access” does suggest television), but the location coordinates on each image suggest otherwise. A quick Google search of the coordinates for Lady Bird and Moonlight reveal the locations of Sacramento and Miami, respectively, the locations where each film is set. Some of the coordinates also point towards billboards.
Josh and Benny Safdie, the directors of Good Time, one of the six featured titles in the video, also tweeted the video and captioned it with the date shown under the film.
