The star-studded cast of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle are back and ready for the next level of the game in the first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level.
The Next Level is the sequel to the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which continues the story from the 1995 Robin Williams film Jumanji.
Set for release on Dec. 13, the forthcoming sequel follows the teenagers from Welcome to the Jungle going back into the game after one of them gets accidentally sucked back in. However, this time around, the game is completely different, and some unexpected older guests get sucked in along with the teens, including franchise newcomers Danny DeVito and Danny Glover.
Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Kevin Hart are all reprising their roles as the game’s playable characters. Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner are all returning, as well. Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina will also make her franchise debut in the film.
Welcome to the Jungle surprisingly brought in more than $960 million worldwide and its director Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) is back to direct the sequel. Kasdan wrote the script alongside Scott Rosenberg (Venom) and Jeff Pinker (The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Kasdan will also produce with Seven Bucks’ Johnson (Rampage), Dany Garcia (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) and Hiram Garcia (Shazam!).
