Frampton Comes Alive! Was Released 44 Years Ago Today. Watch Peter Frampton Perform Live in 1976

Thanks to Frampton Comes Alive!, British guitarist Peter Frampton received his first taste—or rather, huge gulp—of rock ‘n’ roll stardom. His 1976 double live album sold millions of copies and became a classic rock staple. Almost two decades later, the album even became the butt of a Wayne’s World joke. Illustrating just how widespread the album was, Wayne says in the 1993 film sequel, “Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of Tide.”

To celebrate the album’s anniversary, we’re sharing live footage from 1976, just months removed from his famous Frampton Comes Alive! shows. You can listen to “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Lines on My Face” and “Penny For Your Thoughts / One More Time” below, all of which appear on Frampton Comes Alive!, except for the “One More Time” medley. In these clips, you can hear giddy crowd screams throughout, demonstrating just how much they adored him.
