Couple Asks Carrie Brownstein to Marry Them at Book Reading, She Says Yes

Music, TV, books, and now matrimony—Carrie Brownstein does it all. Maybe literally? Tuesday night, at a book reading in Pasadena for her new memoir Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, Brownstein was just hanging with moderator Amy Poehler (yes, THE Amy Poehler) when a young couple in the audience asked if Brownstein would officiate their wedding—as in, right now.

Brownstein happens to be a licensed wedding officiant, so she said yes, and the two women took the stage. Poehler commandeered some flowers, Brownstein gave a really impressive spontaneous speech about hope and love, the crowd cheered, and Kendall Oshiro and Genevieve Hernandez were officially married. You can watch the video above, and check out some Instagram photos and video of the impromptu ceremony below. Also, read Tyler Kane’s review of Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl here.
