Hear a Sneak Peek of the Forthcoming Orphan Black Audiobook Continuation

The next chapter of Orphan Black is not too far off: Digital audio and reading platform Serial Box has announced its anticipated continuation of BBC’s acclaimed Orphan Black series will arrive on Sept. 12, and you can now access a sneak peek of its first episode.

The startup announced its plans to adapt the series into audiobook and text formats back in June, with original series star Tatiana Maslany onboard to voice the cloned sisterhood. Today (Aug. 6), we have further details of the platform’s spin on the series: Looks like The Next Chapter follows the clones’ story eight years after Cosima and her sestras are forced out of their private lives to stop a global disaster.

Broken up into short, hour-long fictional stories available in both audio and e-book formats, the first episode will be made available on Sept. 12, with a new episode to follow each week. A mid-season hiatus will follow episode five, with the remaining episodes arriving in October.

Keep in mind the platform hired a new writing team and showrunner for the production, so The Next Chapter might be a step into left field compared to the original five-season series. However, the list of authors contributing to the Orphan Black story is pretty damn impressive: New York Times bestselling and award-winning authors Malka Older (Infomocracy, Null State), Madeline Ashby (Company Town, VN) and Mishell Baker (Borderline, Phantom Pains), among others, have all laid hands on the revival.

Serial Box is accessible via the Google Play and Apple App Stores, and through the platform’s website. Users can purchase individual episodes for $1.99 or pay up front for the whole season.
