Patrick Rothfuss’ Worldbuilders 2018 Has Raised Almost $1 Million with One Day to Go in Campaign

In the week since we last checked in on the group—which had at that point raised over $500,000 in five days—Worldbuilders have raised almost $1 million ($925,711, as of this writing) for Heifer International.

Started by Patrick Rothfuss, author of The Kingkiller Chronicle (one of Paste’s 30 best fantasy series of all time), Worldbuilders is the “geeks doing good” nonprofit raising money for charities tackling “intelligent solutions” to world issues. Over the past 10 years, the group has worked with nonprofit Heifer International, which provides agricultural and livestock farming training to areas experiencing food shortage with the goal of ending poverty and hunger. In that time, Worldbuilders has donated $8.5 million to the charity.

Worldbuilders 2018 ends tomorrow, Dec. 11. The nonprofit hopes to raise this year’s donations to $1 million and are currently a little under $70,000 away from reaching that goal. For more information on donating and the lottery/auction system associated with donations, check out the fundraiser’s website.

Rothfuss recently sat down with Paste editor-in-chief Josh Jackson for the third episode of our new series What Do You Love?, discussing books, comics and mead. Find the episode here or watch below.
