J.K. Rowling Shares New Pottermore Story Detailing America's Magical Congress

In the run-up to the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, J.K. Rowling has been writing a series of short stories detailing the history of magic in North America. The first was an overview of American magical history from the 1400s to the 1920s, and the second followed the founding of North America’s biggest school for witches and wizards. Now the series is being concluded with the story of North America’s governing body of magic, the Magical Congress of the United States of America.

MACUSA is essentially America’s version of the Ministry of Magic, created after the Salem witch trials, when the wizarding world decided they’d be better off living in secret. The story details MACUSA’s early years of dealing with corrupt wizards, trying to find a suitable location for their headquarters and debating whether to fight in the Revolutionary War.
