200 People Walk Out of Amy Schumer’s Stand-Up Show Following Trump Joke

Amy Schumer has always been brazen. She’s made a career out of being unafraid to talk about whatever is on her mind, and that includes politics. This past weekend at a show at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., Schumer brought up Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. According to The Tampa Bay Times, Schumer called him an “orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster.” After she made this comment, about 200 people stood up and walked out of the show.

Whether these fans were Trump supporters or just sick of hearing about politics, it’s clear they weren’t exactly happy with the quip, but Schumer doesn’t seem to mind. “I loved the crowd and my show in Tampa last night!” Schumer said, speaking with Entertainment Weekly. “I want to thank the 8,400 people who stayed. We had a great time! We have always depended on comedians to make us laugh and tell the truth. I am proud to continue that tradition.”

Schumer’s never been afraid of using real, relevant social issues in her comedy, and her show in Tampa was no exception. Schumer will continue the tour in Madison Square Garden, where she is set to perform on Tuesday night.
