Inside Amy Schumer Will Return In the Indefinite Future

Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer is not returning for a fifth season in “the foreseeable future” according to a tweet from Schumer earlier today. In following tweets, Schumer clarified that her show is indeed not canceled, but taking a hiatus while she goes on tour and focuses on writing.

The clarifying tweets came in the wake of a tweet Schumer wrote on Aug. 17 simply saying, “We aren’t making the show anymore.” The terse tweet increased fans’ concern for the series’ future amidst Schumer’s tense professional relationship with writer-comedian Kurt Metzger, who writes for the show. Metzger came under fire following a series of combative social media posts aimed at women who accused a New York comedian of rape last week. Metzger has also previously been accused of online harassment by female critics.

Schumer tweeted this morning: “#InsideAmySchumer is not cancelled. @ComedyCentral has provided us with a wonderful home and we couldn’t be happier there. I am just touring”

The show has been renewed for a fifth season, but a date has not yet been set for its return.
