Boston Calling Festival Removes Film Fest, Adds Hannibal Buress-Hosted Comedy Expo

Films are out and comedy is in! (According to the Boston Calling festival, anyway.)

Boston Calling is largely a music festival, and this year one of the non-musical events was to be a Natalie Portman-curated film fest. Today, festival organizers have announced that the Portman film fest will now be replaced with a “comedy experience” hosted by Hannibal Buress (The Eric Andre Show, Broad City). According to a statement from Boston Calling, the replacement was due to scheduling conflicts for artists involved in the event. Apparently, Portman plans to reschedule her film fest sometime in the future, so Portman-palooza is not totally dead.

Of the 12 comedians now scheduled to perform at Boston Calling, notable stand-ups include Pete Holmes, Tig Notaro, Eugene Mirman and Phoebe Robinson. The musical lineup is pretty impressive as well, with performances from Chance The Rapper, Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, Solange, Mac DeMarco, Run The Jewels, Mumford & Sons and more. You can check out the full lineup of musical acts here, and the full comedy lineup in the updated festival poster below.

Also, don’t miss Paste’s photo gallery from Boston Calling 2013. Our favorite photo is a tie between a gorgeous sun-soaked Solange and Big Black Delta’s wild drummer hair.
