Comedy Central Announces The Daily Show Companion Series Starring Jordan Klepper

Comedy Central is branching out with The Daily Show programming to release a companion series that will air this fall. Jordan Klepper will be taking his Daily Show persona to the new slot in a topical news series, likely with a similar format.

Klepper, a popular Daily Show correspondent since his addition in 2014, is most well-known for his segment “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse,” wherein he goes to the public to talk about the issues, with often depressingly hilarious results. He talked about the new series in a statement, saying, “The choice to entrust me with the 11:30 p.m. timeslot is both incredibly humbling and deeply disturbing. Without a doubt, it has utterly destroyed my confidence in Comedy Central’s decision-making acumen. Dear God, now I have to work with these fools.” Well, these fools think pretty highly of him. Kent Alterman, President of Comedy Central, said, “Jordan’s talent has become so increasingly obvious it would take a real fool to not offer him this opportunity.”

Per a press release, the show “will look to embrace and define the chaos of our country by channeling Klepper’s steadfast attitude that institutions are to be trusted less than the lies of the mainstream media.” Klepper will also be assembling a correspondent squad of his own.

The as-yet-untitled Daily Show companion series will air on Comedy Central this fall, Monday-Thursday at 11:30 p.m. EST. Klepper will executive-produce alongside Trevor Noah and Stuart Miller. Take a look at Klepper’s most excellent segment “Good Guy with a Gun” embedded below.
