Conan to Switch from Nightly to Weekly Format on TBS

Taking … well, pretty much everybody by surprise, Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show will be switching to a weekly format instead of nightly, according to TheWrap.

Turner CEO John Martin spoke to the outlet at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Wednesday, explaining that the network has been happiest with Conan’s recent remote segments in locations such as Berlin, Cuba and South Korea. The trips have already helped increase ratings, and Martin believes the segments are good for the show creatively.

This type of format wouldn’t be unprecedented for TBS, as Samantha Bee’s successful late-night show already airs weekly instead of nightly.

Martin believes the late-night space is overcrowded as is, and that Conan’s show is doing just fine, according to TheWrap.
