Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Aziz Ansari and John Mayer Performed Together

Last night, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Aziz Ansari and John Mayer played a surprise show at a comedy club together, and we’ll never be able to see it.

This news comes courtesy of Brooklyn Vegan and we’ll understand if the knowledge of it is too much for you to bear.

The night started with Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock performing stand-up together at the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan. Then, Aziz Ansari joined them on stage to add his own comedic stylings to the mix. Apparently, John Mayer was in the building for all this because he reportedly left the club, ran “several blocks to get his guitar,” and came back to join the trio on stage, along with jazz pianist Cory Henry. The night turned into a jam session after that, with the group bouncing between comedy and music for three hours.

Even just getting to see Chappelle perform on stage would make for an unforgettable night, let alone having all the others join him for an extra-long set.

You can see some of the pictures of the jam session embedded below. Except for a short clip of the group singing “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi, there hasn’t been much video of the jam session posted online. It seems like this one will just be for the lucky people at the club that night.

What a legendary night at The Comedy Cellar! I knew Dave Chapelle was going to do a surprise set but had no idea it was going to turn into this. Also, MY RAPS WILL DESTROY YOU! ????????????;

What an amazing night at @nyccomedycellar. Dave Chapelle x Chris Rock hit the stage & did dual stand up. Then was joined by Aziz Ansari. Yes, they did stand up x 3. And as if the night could be any more impromptu & amazing, John Mayer hit the stage after running several blocks to get his guitar, accompanied by Cory Henry on piano. From that point, it was an all out jam session of songs mixed with comedy. Also standing in the hallways with me watching this astounding moment were comedians Greer Barnes, Michelle Wolf, Godfrey, & Ardie Fuqua, just to name a few. My favorite part of the evening was creep’n on Cipha Sounds taking a cat nap on the Cellar stairs while this amazing memory was happening. The entire evening was hosted by Wil Sylvince. Last time I saw Chappell make #ComedyCellar history like this was over a decade ago when I was there with Patrice. That was an all nighter as well. As Chapelle said tonight, “Cool shit just happens when I’m around”. He’s damn sure right about that. Cool shit definitely happens when he’s around. I’m happy I was there for another surreal moment. There is NOTHING BETTER THAN LIVING THE COMEDY LIFE. I have to be in the city early af. I think I’m gonna just sleep in my car and rock out my shows in my yesterdiddy clothes… #Blessings #StayInTheLight #IGstories;
