Dave Chappelle will make his Broadway debut with a five-show residency at The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre from July 9-13.
Artists from a variety of genres have recently announced summer residencies at the Lunt-Fontanne as a part of a new In Residence on Broadway series developed by Live Nation, The Araca Group and Entertainment Benefits Group, including Morrissey (whose run grossed $1.9M for seven shows), Regina Spektor and Barry Manilow. Chappelle’s act is not part of the series.
Presale tickets for Dave Chappelle Live on Broadway will go on sale June 18 via Ticketmaster Verified Fan, but general tickets will be made available on Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m. ET.
Chappelle’s camp, who have long disapproved of his material leaking to the web, have announced that no recording devices will be allowed during each show due to extenuating copyright circumstances. It seems that Chappelle’s partnership with Yondr, the San Francisco startup that manufactures smartphone sleeves to lock shut in “no phone zones,” will continue for his residency.
