Netflix Renews David Letterman’s Talk Show for Season Two

Netflix has picked up a second season of talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, per THR. As with the first season, the second batch will run six episodes.

The surprisingly comedy-light talk series centers on conversations between the veteran late-night host and prominent figures he finds fascinating, starting in January with Barack Obama’s first post-presidency late-night appearance. The first season also featured interviews with George Clooney, Nobel Prize winner and activist Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern.

The renewal follows a number of high-profile disappointments among Netflix’s talk-show contingent. The streamer’s first talk show, Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea, was canceled after two seasons in 2017, and in August, both Michelle Wolf and Joel McHale’s shows were axed after their 10-episode first seasons. Netflix’s other big player in the talk space, Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj, received a whopping 32-episode commitment from the start.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman will return sometime in 2019. Guests have not yet been announced for the show’s second season.
