Hannibal Buress Plays the Drums For Speedy Ortiz at SXSW

Music lovers are abuzz this week in Austin, TX for SXSW, now in full swing, and comedian Hannibal Buress was in town. Bored and looking to fill a gap in his schedule, Buress tweeted out that he was available for hire as a drummer for any band that needed the position filled, which prompted a quick response from Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis.

Pitchfork posted a video of the ensuing event as Speedy Ortiz was joined onstage By Buress on drums for their set at The Mohawk for their song “MKVI” and together, they made beautiful (well, maybe not so much) music. At least it looks like they had a blast.

Along with drumming for indie rock bands in his spare time, Buress is a regular on Broad City and will be getting his own show on Comedy Central called Why? With Hannibal Buress.

As for Speedy Ortiz, their new album Foil Deer is due out on April 21.
