EXCLUSIVE: Watch Sneak Peek Clip from New Animated Comedy In the Know

In the Know—the new, partially animated comedy series from the minds of Zach Woods, Brandon Gardner, and Mike Judge—is hardly the first TV show to take aim at public radio. Think of Pawnee Community Radio on Parks and Recreation, or the iconic Saturday Night Live “Schweddy Balls” sketch, or the send-up of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me on You’re the Worst. This newest addition to the bunch, though, is all public radio parody, and with stop motion animation to boot, so we’re extra excited.

Peacock will welcome In the Know to its comedic flock on January 25. The show follows the fairly self-centered host of In the Know, NPR’s third most popular broadcaster Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods of Silicon Valley fame), as well as the studio’s kooky cast of characters: take-no-shit researcher Fabian (Caitlin Reilly), college intern and general bro-at-large Chase (Charlie Bushnell), co-executive producer Barb (J. Cameron Smith, hopefully bringing that same Succession iciness), sound engineer Carl (Carl Tart), and oddball cultural critic Sandy (Judge).

We here at Paste have an exclusive clip from In the Know for you today concerning the latter two. Sandy is reviewing films for his “movie mavens,” while Carl seems to be… reading? Highlighting? Either way, he’s paying little attention to Sandy’s unhinged ramblings.

Besides the puppets, there are also some real, live human being guests lined up for interviews with Lauren over the course of the show: Kaia Gerber, Jonathan Van Ness, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, and iconic queer pop duo Tegan and Sara, to name a few. For a little more of that, check out the trailer for In the Know here

In the Know boasts plenty of promise beyond the voice talent and cameos—namely because of the team pulling the strings. Animation studio ShadowMachine are working on the stop motion side, and their work has been seen everywhere from Robot Chicken to BoJack Horseman to the deranged Barbie scene in Booksmart.
