Comedy Central Renews Inside Amy Schumer and Broad City, Greenlights Time Traveling Bong
Comedy Central is giving its leading ladies an extension. Today, the network announced that Inside Amy Schumer has been renewed for a fifth season and Broad City will get a fourth and fifth season.
This is merely the latest good news in what has been a tremendous breakthrough year for Schumer. Her eponymous variety sketch series, which begins its fourth season in April, won the 2015 Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series; she and her debut feature film Trainwreck are nominated for Golden Globes; and she was named to Time Magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People.
Broad City has been a critics’ darling from the start, and now creators Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson will get to continue injecting new life into the “odd couple” trope. The show’s third season premieres on Feb. 17 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
Additionally, Comedy Central has greenlit a “limited series” (three episodes) called Time Traveling Bong, written and produced by Glazer, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs and set to air after Season 3 of Broad City concludes in April. According to the press release, the series “centers on two cousins, played by Glazer and Downs, who discover a time traveling bong and ride high as they blaze through time. Their buzz is killed when the bong breaks and the cousins are forced to bounce around the space time continuum, learning to appreciate there’s no time like the present.” Stoners, rejoice.
