Jenny Slate Slated to Bring Her First Comedy Special to Netflix

Comedian and actress Jenny Slate’s first Netflix original comedy special, Stage Fright, will launch on Netflix on Oct. 22.

The special’s stand-up will be interspersed with personal clips of Slate’s childhood, as well as interviews with family to create an intimate portrait of her life. As the title suggests, Jenny will discuss overcoming stage fright, also featuring stories about her visit to a midnight Catholic Mass, and recalling the ghosts that haunted her childhood home.

Slate was a cast member on SNL for Season 35 from 2009 to 2010, where she showed wit and charisma that seemed like it should have prolonged her time on the show. Nonetheless, her contract wasn’t renewed. In the years since then, she’s been acting in films including Gifted, The Secret Life of Pets, Landline and Obvious Child, which she and writer/director Gillian Robespierre (who also directs Stage Fright) discussed with Paste in 2014, along with opinions on alternative footwear.

Slate tweeted an announcement for Stage Fright, which you can find below.
